what a week

Week off from work had loads of things to do this week, didn’t get all of them done but hey. I did get a chance to go the Science Museum though, twice actually. Wanted to go on Tuesday to see the James Bond Exhibition, but tickets had been sold out for the day thanks to it being half term.

Any how I spent some time going around the other Galleries most of them being quite new, and me not having been there for a least two years gave me a reason to spend some time checking out the various exhibits. I was particularly intrigued by the new Human Body exhibit which had a pretty cool hall about Genetics, I was with Qaiser, a friend of mine who is visiting from the States and just happens to be medical researcher and student from Oklahoma University. I did of course manage to get around to the Computing and Mathamatics section as well, they have the original Babbage machine kindly placed there by IBM.

There was also a large exhibit called “The Making of the Modern World” which is primarily about how technology has effected the World. Starting with simple machinery right up to jet planes. There was a small section on the History of Home Computers, they even had an original Apple on display.

We went back on the Friday of that week for the James Bond which we both thought was fantastic. The exhibit is actually centered around an interactive quiz consisting of questions about the relevant sections of the exhibit. You start in a room made to look like Q’s office where you are given your assignment. You then move on to the first hall which is about how the Bond character came about and off course Ian Flemming. The second section is about props and gadgets and how they where designed. This is followed by a section on Bond’s enemies over the years. There is of course a section on Bond Girls, Special Effects, Stunts and how Bond is marketed around the world, consisting of artwork from all over the world. The second segment of the exhibit is actually on the top floor, and comprises of the various cars from some of the movies as well as some of the larger models used for filming purposes.

Haven’t updated the site in while since I screwed up the blogger files. I have been planning a major overhaul, as well as finally rolling out the FSJ section. Still working on the commenting system and also updating the rather lame static content I have on the site, though I am sort of re-organising the film and music sections as well. Also going to make the weblog the main page of the site. Sound simple enough probably will take me a couple of weeks to get this all done.
