verdict on new bond flick

Have not made an entry in a while been busy with work and other things. I did however get a chance to go and see the new Bond flick, which as suspected was good, but not great. It is better than the two previous films, and Brosnan’s performance was as good as could be expected. The plot was not entirely original however it did have a not so obvious twist. Die Another Die is worth watching on the big screen, the best action Bond movie to date. Oh, and no the Madonna track still sucks.

die another day

Got home to a pile of DVDs this evening, the 8 Bond movies I had ordered from play showed up. They are running a buy one, get one free promotion at the moment. Had a whale of a time just opening all of the individually wrapped DVDs.

They also decided to send me 8 DVD preview disks for the new Bond movie Die Another Day, which does not look bad, though I don’t expect it to be great. Madonna has done the title track for the film. I personally didn’t like the song at first, but it is growing on me I might like it next week.

New Apple Laptops

Damn, Apple have gone and updated their PowerBook and iBook lines (full story here), might be time to sell my iBook on eBay. Just looked on eBay for the going rates of the 600MHz iBook, not bad people are still managing to get £900 for a laptop model that is a little over a year old now.

Come to think of it my iBook is a year old next week. Second thoughts selling it on eBay is probably not such a great idea, I will wait until this time next year. Probably should think about getting an Airport card soon, more and more wireless nodes are becoming active in the areas around work and home.

a beautiful day

Just got U2’s new album The Best of 1990-2000, and I think it is great.

I have so far only listened to the first CD, second is currently ripping as I write this. Though I have all the previous albums I have been looking forward to the new tracks, remixes and videos on the disks.

days later

Watched 28 Days Later last night thought it was an extremly well done British film, the best one I have seen since Dog Soldiers. I had read some reviews before hand and I was very 50/50 until I watched the movie and I have to say I was pleasently surprised. The look of the film is quite neat even though it has been filmed totally in DV (Digital Video). The acting was quite good and the story although not entirely original was very entertaining, a definate must see.

Got TimeSplitters 2 on the Gamecube a couple of days ago only got a chance to mention it now. I never got the original TimeSplitters game when the Playstation was launched almost two years ago now, though I did play it a few times, I knew it was produced by the team that originally worked on GoldenEye, I had also read various features in Edge about TimeSplitters 2 so I had been building up expectaions of the game, thank fully this game has over delivered.

TimeSplitters 2 has a very GoldenEye like interface, though the control mechanism has been enhanced vastly thanks to Gamecube controllers. The game play is your typical first person game, though the puzzle elements and level offer enough variety to keep you going. The visuals and in game movies are what you would expect and the sound effects are impressive too. I have been mainly playing the two-player co-operative game at the moment, though I have also played the deathmatch games quite vigourlessly. Need to play the 1-player game some more.
