Had a pretty full day today. Started the day at the Guggenheim Museum, then went on to the Natural History Musuem. I had been to both before so I concentrated mainly on the feature exhibits, My brother tried to cover everything which is a pretty tough task even with 3-4 hours to spend at each museum.
In the evening we grabbed a bite to eat then went on the Knicks game, it rocked. My first live US Basketball game, I think it has to be one of the trip highlights so far. The Knicks where playing the Seattle Sonics, the Knicks won 108 to 88. The match itself was what I was sort of expected having watched Basketball games on telly and live in the UK. However the atmosphere is what sets things apart. The effort put into a single match is amazing. Why don’t we have proper dancers and cheer leader types in the UK? Why don’t schools and colleges have any level of dedication to sport? I can probably guess the anwser to these questions has something to do with money. Which is a real shame, how can we expect to be good at anything unless some investment is made along the lines.
Unfortunately it is not Baseball season, I loved the Giants match I caught last time I was in San Francisco. I really want to go to a Yankees game, the last time I was in New York, I had to fly back the day a match was on so I could not go. (Though I did manage to go around Yankee Stadium.) I had to make do with watching it in a bar before heading of to Newark to catch my flight back to the UK.
