Had the first major delay on the trains today, had to get to Finsbury Park for around 7pm for Bowling Night. Got to Egham station to get the 18:06 train only to find that the last train to Waterloo was the 17:10 train, the 17:40 and subsequent trains got cancelled when a train broke down in the opposite direction. Was stranded there till 19:10, didn’t hit Waterloo till about 19:50.
Had a SW Trains rep at the platform who was trying to be helpful, even he couldn’t understand why turning a train around from Windsor took over an hour considering that 8 trains had got through to Windsor/Reading since the defective train had been towed down to Staines.
