Lucky Number Slevin

Watched Lucky Number Slevin last night. Have not been to the pictures in ages, nothing else seemed worth watching so we went for this. I’m glad I did, a pretty good film and an amazing cast. Featuring Morgan Freeman, Ben Kinglsey, Lucy Liu, Josh Harnett and Bruce Willis. With that cast you can really do much wrong, the film is directed by Paul McGuigan, who was behind Wicker Park and Gangster No 1.

The story is not obvious from the outset but you do slowly piece together what is transpiring. How the multiple story angles come together is quite neat. Highly recommended another must see.

Site Updates

I have been messing with the site templates slightly and getting around to fixing the content on the section pages. Will probably still take a little time to sort out. At the moment I have fixed the sidebar and been hooking in AdSense to the site. Will hope to have all the changes complete in the next couple of days. Also looking at Flickr module as well, is quite easy to do, but first I have to upload many more pictures. I have also upgraded my flickr account so that I can tinker with it a bit more. Must go to the Tate Modern next weekend and get some more photos with my camera which I still have not put through it paces in London.

Sharon Stone : Minging

Have you seen the Basic Instinct 2 poster? The picture of Sharon Stone has been greatly airbrushed, since the recent pictures and film coverage she looks totally mank. Obviously Sharon Stone must have reached rock bottom to justify making a sequel, can’t imagine what the storyline will be.

As for other films I’m looking forward to this summer so far on my list are : X-Men 3, Superman, Ghostrider and some other films I can’t remember now. V for Vendetta comes out this week as well, don’t think it is going to be that good though I’m sure I will check out the dvd when it comes out. Speaking of dvds I got Crash today and also picked up ET. Since I was watching a program called 100 Greatest Moments in Entertainment and they included the bit where Elliot, his mates and the ET fly of on their bikes. Now I haven’t watched ET since my teens, in fact it was one of the first film I remember watching when I was a kid. So I thought I might as well get it and remember the film in it’s entirity, since my memory is quite patchy.

Syriana

Went and watched Syriana again last night with Raad and Senna. Watching this for a second time I noted some of the facts I seemed to miss the first time round. The film is quite complex and and in places can get hard to follow, it is written by the same person who was behind Traffic which has to be the most convoluted story every.

I like what this film try to make people realise, it did go down well in the US, Clooney even got an Oscar for his performance on monday night. Speaking of the Oscars I tried to go and buy Crash unfortunately I think everybody else that watched the Oscars on SkyOne thought the same thing, so there were no copies left. Will have to try again in a couple of days time. It is funny that Brokeback Mountain did not clean up like everyone thought.

Bubba Ho-tep

Bubba Ho-tep, now were do I start. I got this gem of a film on dvd during the christmas sales. I had read some good things about it on imdb. Also it features Bruce Campbell, who is a legend as far as comedy horror films go, plus it was only £4. The dvd had been sitting in a pile of unwatched dvds, so last night I decided to pop the disk in the player.

The premise of the film is that Campbell plays Sebastian Haff an Elvis impersonator who is actually the real Elvis. He just happens to have ended up in a convalescent home recovering from a hip injury. Any how there is a Mummy feeding on the souls of the residents of the home. Basically Sebastian and his side kick who by the way thinks he is JFK, take on the mummy. Now this film has to be seen, the dialog and gags are the funniest I have heard or seen in ages. In fact I don’t think any thing is going to come close for some time. Bruce Campbell’s performance is easily his best, he should do more films like this.
