Went and watched Casino Royale. Which I really liked, I was really worried that this was going to turn out bad. However Daniel Craig did a great job of morphing Bond once again. Casino Royale was Flemming’s first James Bond novel, however the first time round it was not made till after Dr No. Plus it was directed by Woody Allen who turned it into a comedy.
It has now been re-made and updated as a serious film. A serious action film, from the get go, the action kicks in. We see Bond getting his OO status, and embarking on his first assignment. The rest of the cast are the usual good guys and bad guys, nothing spectacular except for Eva Green. Well she is not ugly that is for sure. I can see why she is being hailed as the best Bond girl to date, she difinitely seems to have everything. I hope we see more of her on the big screen soon.
The funniest scene in the film for me has to be early on in the film when Mr Bond can be seen driving around in a Ford Focus. Yes a Ford!!!!. I know about product placement deals etc, but of all cars a Ford!!!

Just been playing Gears of War, which my brother managed to get his hands on a couple of days early. Just only played through a samll section of the game in co-operative mode. The third person perspective is not new, however they whole cover and jumping and rolling aspect makes this game unique. The online mode hasn’t been tested yet since we haven’t been able to connect yet. Don’t know why, though I expect XBox Live is going to see a massive increase in traffic when this game launches. There is also an online co-operative mode, which will be quite cool.

The first info about the PS3 launch in Japan is starting to hit. Looking at the launch line up games I can’t easily see any A class titles. Though until I get my hands on an import console in the next couple of weeks it is quite hard to pass judgment on the PS3.
I think in the long term the PS3 will still be a success even with all the bad press moves of late, being taken by Sony. The Xbox 360 just keeping getting better games. Waiting for Gears of War, out later this week, and looks like it will ship 360s. The XBox Live service is going to be very hard to beat. Microsoft know how to architect server oriented large scale infrastruce, and the software know how as well. So they have a massive head start over Sony. Lets see how the US PS3 release goes, next week already being hyped. Also the Wii launch is next sunday. I think if the rumors of the PS3 shipment shortages to the US turn out to be true. Then I think Microsoft are going to ship loads of 360s. Likewise if Wii are openly available in stores people will just buy those for Christmas. Sony’s launch lineup always is bad, lets hope that the European release has better titles at least.

My brother Waj’s birthday today. No hard plan will probably be out for a meal this evening, though getting him away from work is quite hard these days.

Well get my hands on the most anticipated game on the PSP, GTA Vice City Stoies. My favourite game to date on the PSP has been GTA : LCS, which I haven’t played in a while now, got to about 80% complete, having finished the missions, leaving some of the more crazy tasks unfinished.
So far from what I have seen from VCS, I’m quite happy more of the same really. Some subtle differences, but pretty much more of the same with a different story.

Well most retailers are now offering pre-orders of the Wii. So I have placed an order with HMV. When it comes to Nintendo launches HMV always do a midnight special opening. I have traditionally been at each one so why go against traditions now. Zelda and another controller are a must. My brother has already booked the days around the launch off so he can complete Zelda. He has a rep to protect, and I think he will have it nailed in 24 hours as well. He is just too hardcore.
